Cape Town City Council to the rescue

Cape Town is in the middle of a storm. We have been experiencing gale force winds since yesterday morning

Yesterday afternoon (Friday 12th May, ±5 pm) we called the City Council to report water gushing out
from under the tarmac across the road from our house and were told it would be attended to as soon as possible,
but that there were damage reports coming in from all over the city

At 7 pm the repair team arrived

got to work

with spectacular effects

and by 7.30 the broken pipe had been dug up and fixed

Then at about midnight Lynne called them again to report that our electricity had gone awol
and a tree outside our house was interfering with the wires coming into the house

At 5.30 am a council worker called to say he was here to look at the damage

The wires at the top of the street had broken

He checked our board to make sure that all was well

At 8.15 am two trucks with cherry picker apparatus arrived

By 9 am the wires had been reconnected

Then they trimmed the trees

It's so good to live in a city that works
