The first harvest in Newlands in 150 years

Friday, February 15th, 07h00
The first grapes to harvested in Newlands in 150 years were picked by a group of management and friends of the hotel from The Vineyard Hotel's vineyard on the bank of the Liesbeek River.
A lugbox of freshly picked Sauvignon blanc
including our vine's single bunch!
George Petousis brings in a load
and Lynne does her share
GM Roy Davies, fresh and fit in the early morning
and John gets in on the action
Matt Dietchmann, F&B manager and part-time farmworker
Mrs Kitty Petousis, owner of The Vineyard
Carlo Prins, from Klein Constantia
The last grapes come in
the workers relax with a glass of fresh orange juice
Matt, Roy and Kitty Petousis pose for the local paper
The grapes are loaded into Klein Constantia's bakkie
and the workers are rewarded with coffee, pastries and croissants in the Splash Café
before getting back to work
