Lunch at Pierneef à La Motte

John escorted two cabinet ministers from another country on a wine tour to Franschhoek last week. The tour included lunch at Pierneef à La Motte. La Motte was awarded the 2012 Great Wines Capital Best of Wine Tourism Award for Art and Culture

The menu concentrates on local produce with inspiration from traditional influences. Most of the fresh produce is grown on the farm. We drank the wines recommended on the menu, all of which had been tasted earlier with the winemaker, Michael Langenhoven

It was a beautiful warm, clear day and we were shown to a table on the open verandah which has the river on one side and the garden on another. We were joined by members of the Franschhoek wine and tourism fraternity

The food was very well presented and prepared and everyone enjoyed it.
